I have the honour to acknowledge

the receipt of your despatch No. 245 of

the 23rd of December last enclosing the

Colonial Estimates for 1894 and I have to

inform you that Her Majesty will not be ad-

vised to exercise her power of disallowance in respect of the Appropriation Ordi-

nance No. 14 of 1893, entitled an Ordinance to apply a sum not exceeding two millions three hundred and forty-seven thousand four

hundred and eighty-one dollars to the

Public Service of the year 1894*.

The principal point calling for

criticism in the details of these Estimates

is that the dollar has been calculated at the rate of 2/6 and, as it seems certain

during the year that the average rate of exchange will be

far lower, the estimates must be taken to

foreshadow a deficit.
